This is a great guide for those who are using a Mac for the first time. It was easy to read and understand. I especially like how the author showed the differences side by side. For example, the term used for the PC function or command, followed by the term for the Mac. It takes the guess work out of everything and really demystifies the two platforms. This is the best book and the price can't be beat.

I've been a Windows person for 20 years but have decided to switch to Mac. I wanted to start getting up to speed early so I know what to expect and so I can plan a smooth transition of my current files and capabilities. This Kindle book is excellent at comparing the Mac to a Windows system. I quickly learned many things I need to consider in the transition that I would not have otherwise considered. I looked at several hardcopy books on the same subject in the $20 range and decided that this was a better and cheaper alternative.

I've used Windows machines my whole career. Needing a new laptop, I talked to friends, read a lot, then got a MacBook Air. I rapidly discovered that OSX is counterintuitive for this Windows user. This guide is (a) cheap and (b) invaluable. It's very focused. Not a manual for OSX nor a collection of tips and tricks, it does exactly (and lucidly) precisely what it claims. After 15 minutes of study I was able to do an amazing number of tasks on the Mac. The only thing this book won't (and couldn't) tell you is how to train you fingers to do things the Mac way. Strongly recommended to any Windows user who needs to quickly come up to speed on a Mac.

I now know to "look inside" before buying and look for the copyright date. The author's bland assertions that Macs are virus -proof is, as we all know, wrong and causes credibility problems for the rest of the book. Any system is susceptible to hacking, only a fool thinks he is immune. User caution is always required. Aside from that, there are useful bits of information in this book. There are also a lot of other books out there. You paid a lot for your Mac - spend a tiny bit more to learn how to use it. I will revisit here when I find a really good book.

Recently purchased a Mac Book Air. I have been a windows man since windows for workgroups and thought I never switch but with all the enhancements Apple has done to integrate audio and video it was hard to resist. Anyway, the Book is exactly what I needed, it covers the basics, does not go into too much detail on the technical side and will get the Windows user up and running in no time. I highly recommend this book for anyone that is doing the switch. I left out one star as I would have liked to see a little bit more technical detail being an IT professional however for the regular user this is ideal.

There is a lack of back and forth arrows in this book. It in itself is good, till you start to understand what you are looking for. The index in books like this one either is too limited or not there. It is really a pain to get to a place in a chapter and find there is no way to get to information indicated by the author. I usually end up putting tabs on all the pages, but seeing as this is a computer book how can you do that.

I only wish Amy had shared more of: a) how long it took to heal her body b) how she realized what stuck and unprocessed emotions to clear. Other than that, an absolute must read! One of THE best books chronicling the long dark journey into the depths of chronic illness (and how to find the light).

I always get samples of Kindle books before I buy them. I almost didn’t want to love this book because it cost more than I normally pay for a Kindle book. Scher's book is inspiring, engrossing, and a wonderful read. As someone who has dealt with invisible illness for a long time, I related to so much of her story. The travel aspect also provides the armchair reader with an in-depth look at living in Delhi, which I found fascinating as well. Highly recommended.

Bonnie K. Hunter is passionate about quilting, focusing mainly on scrap quilts with the simple feeling "making do." She started her love affair with quilting in a home economics class her senior year of high school in 1980 and has never looked back. Before quilting became her full time career, Bonnie was the owner and designer of "Needle in a Haystack!!" creating more than 70 patterns for dolls and stuffed animals with a country primitive feel. Many of her designs were licensed through the Butterick Pattern Company, translated into seven languages, and sold around the globe through fabric stores. Bonnie is also a licensed massage therapist, nationally certified in therapeutic massage and body work. But quilting has always been Bonnie's first love. She has been machine quilting for more than 20 years and professionally longarm quilting for the public for more than 15 years. She has been featured in magazines for both her quilt patterns and articles she has written on scrap management and using that stash to its full potential. Bonnie is dedicated to continuing the traditions of quilting. I love all of Bonnie Hunter's designs. She is so creative with "scraps". And you don't need to use "scraps", you can cut from your yardage. Bonnie tells you how to be organized, then presents these beautiful designs with lots of illustrated instructions. In addition, instead of "quilt as desired" like most patterns say, Bonnie tells you exactly how she quilted it. and shows a close up of the quilting. I love that. I have all of Bonnie's books, and if you like multi-fabric quilts, you too, will want this one.

Nice book for ideas. I didn't learn any new concepts, but I bought this for inspiration and it does indeed inspire.
