If the protagonist in this book was not our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I would have called this book a good novel. But since this isn’t the case, 1-star that I gave is still too much.I was looking for a book that will explain&tie together the fact that Jesus is a Jew, came to fulfill the Torah not to demolish the Torah, and everything he did was Jewish. This book did NOT accomplish that, and honestly I am a bit puzzled that it is written by a pastor.However, I did find the book that gave me what I was looking for. It is written by rabbi Jonathan Cahn and it is called “The Book of Mysteries”. I highly recommend this book for anyone that is looking for answers.

This book is an elaborate work of fiction in the guise of scholarly literature. I forced myself to finish it, but it is going in the trash. I absolutely do NOT recommend this book to anyone who values logical, cited, objective works of non-fiction.

Chilton tells a very different story than that portrayed by the Christian establishment. You will want to clear your mind before reading this book. But if you can do that, it is an inspiring story of. I can see why the book cover reads "The Jewish Life and Teaching That Inspired Christianity" with the operative word being "inspired" as opposed to "was the foundation of". Loved reading this very different story than what I was brought up with.

A superb examination of a human life. While the author speculates, he does so based on deeply informed scholarship, writing with flare, and plausibility. (Author is a leading expert on Aramaic, the language of ancient Palestine.) I plan to read the book again.If you prefer your old-time Jesus with "cream and sugar" you might find this intense. I've now read it again, and am still resonating with the vividness of the central character of this historical-but-somewhat-novelistic biography. It has blessed me, and sent me deeper into scripture. Highly regarded book! (Update: I've now read it for a third time, and given away three copies.)ps: Pay little attention to those many 1-star reviews from literalists who have yet to learn to read between the lines of scripture. We all have a patient Teacher.

An excellent imagining of the life of Jesus that makes it difficult to disagree with Chilton's depiction.Chilton relies heavily on the political situation in Palestine in the first century to base his story.He also extensively quotes the Gospel of John.There is obviously a risk relying on the non-synoptic gospel but his interpretation makes sense.Highly recommended.

Interesting read. Provocative and clearly controversial. Not something a fundamentalist Christian would probably agree with.

A wonderful "biography" of Jesus, highly readable, presenting a picture of Jesus that is relatable. It is based on a deep awareness of the culture and mindset of the time of Jesus. I have recommended this book to almost everyone I know.

In some sense if you read Popyk's columns about selling, you may already know the vast majority of the information in this book: his Acknowledgments section notes that his readers and those who have heard him speak have contributed to the ideas included.The 97 chapters are very short, at times a bit repetitive, and are aimed primarily at people in the various types of sales (whether services or products). One of the main objectives of the book is to provide ideas on how to make you (and your business card) memorable to the people you meet. The second main point is about follow-up. Most of the remainder of the content is about how to design your own business card.I enjoyed reading this ... folded down a few page corners, and highlighted a few things. So while some of the advice is 'obvious', at least here its collected all in one place for future reference!

This a great book. i believe in business cards. When to give them, when to hold them. Great advise on business card usage. I give out a lot of business cards. I was in a book store at the local mall and when I finished checking out I gave the cashier my business card. This book will teach you how to effectively use your business cards, when to use them, and when not to use them. Buy this book, read it, reread it. Use what you learned to get the most out of your business card.

I agree with a previous reviewer who stated "It was too basic...this is stuff any college kid would know." However, that being said, one can't just start in the middle of a topic and write a book. I thought it was more like reading a business cards for dummies edition type book. If you are new and starting out in the business world and never owned a business card, then you should probably read this. Not to say I didn't find a few useful tips, but this book certainly hasn't turned my business upside down or changed my life as the editiorial reviews would lead you to believe. Those reviews were probably written by close friends and family.I walk away from this glad I didnt pay full price and got free shipping on the book.

I liked this book. Not a large book and certainly easy to read. Not every tip is right for me but the few I did like, really make sense. Interesting book...a book that the author should update.

That's what this book is really all about." Frankly, until reading it, I really hadn't given sufficient consideration to the potential use of business cards. Of course, I already knew that they are (in Popyk's words) "people linkers" which can be used for "networking, schmoozing, connecting, reaching out, prospecting, selling, and basic advertising." All of us already know that. The great value of Popyk's book is that it reveals all manner of other ways by which business cards can be uniquely and abundantly effective. He shares his observations and suggestions in 97 brief but informative chapters which are organized within three Parts:Networking Know-How and Business-Card SavvyPersonalized PresentationsCreative Design...It's All in the CardsThe book is exceptionally well-written. There is almost nothing hypothetical or theoretical about Popyk's suggestions. All of his key points are anchored in real-world situations. Properly designed and produced, a business card can be a "miniature billboard" on display wherever an organization's employees go. (All employees in every organization should have a business card. All of them.) That same card can also be a constant reminder to those employees of their organization's positive values. The cost of a properly designed and produced business card is relatively insignificant. How about the cost of a cheesy business card? If you now carry one, you really don't want to know.

It was hard to relate to the author and stomach her ego. She seems to me to be very selfish and self-centered. Interestingly, I tried to find her on the internet - no such luck. Where is she now, 12 years after the book was written? Two of the doctors she raves about - Dr Jonathan Wright and Dr Bradley Weeks - have both recently lost their medical licenses within the state of Washington. I could not relate to her lifestyle - she mentions her chef and her "staff" at home on the ranch in Santa Barbara. Fortunately for her, she appears to have access to all the time and money in the world to seek various treatments and tests. BioCybernetics is another company she highly recommends but I could not find on the internet. I think the basic premise of the book might be worthwhile - to determine what your nutritional deficiencies are, assess your toxic load - basically stop doing what's hurting you, and start providing your body with what it needs to repair/recover in order to at least give your body a fighting chance to make a dent in your MS symptoms. But are her recommendations realistic? Well, they certainly are costly. There are many other books out there that provide better information and are presented in a much more palatable, reliable fashion. I couldn't finish this book because of all of her grandiose comments about herself. I can't have a whole lot of respect for someone who chose to leave her little daughter (grade school age) in New York with her ex-husband so that she could follow her rich boyfriend to Santa Barbara and live on his ranch, complete with chef and "staff" (including a driver). Really.

as a professor of neuropsychiatry AND someone who suffers from MS, i found this book to be okay. it discusses some of the alternative methods for the treatment of MS that have been used and are presently in use. she offers some evidence, both objective and subjective, in support of her claims. the writing is relatively easy to follow. She uses fairly short sentences. It pulls the reader in at times, but, with equal energy, it pushes or repulses you away. i was quite disappointed overall with the book, hoping that it would be both more descriptive and scholarly. i would not recommend this book for use in the classroom, for "primary care providers", or for those with MS.

This book is mostly a long-winded autobiography of Celeste Pepe. She constantly reminds the reader that she is rich, a nutritionist (who,incidentally, was "out of balance"), and married to a very wealthy, handsome man, who was in complete denial and not much help to her. It appears she believes she was re-incarnated and chose to have MS in a previous life so that she could save the rest of the world with vitamins, bee-stings and oxygen blown through every bodily opening! How is that even accomplished? As a person with recently diagnosed MS, this book was not in the least bit helpful. No one should take any advice from her at all and I don't think going to her as a chiroprator would be such a great idea either.

VERY informative. If you or a loved one has MS; this is a must read.

Honestly, I didn't get very far into this book before I began to realize that this woman was an imposter. She claims that she used many different methods (diet, yoga/exercise, and Bee Sting Therapy) to completely recover from MS......until you learn that she has only had MS for 5 years, and only the initial attack. Most of us who have MS can say that we recovered completely from our first attack, followed by a period of time (sometimes years) where we were free of the disease. Let's see if she can remain symptom-free for 10 or 15 or 20 years.

Really good information and recipes for a first time canner in here.

This is my story. My husband came home from work with 18 lbs. of Concord grapes, what was I to do? If we have lemons, we make lemonade, so I figured if I have grapes, make jelly! I've never made jelly before. How do I get started? As a self-learner, I've always believed that if I have the best information and follow it carefully, I can accomplish my goal. If experts are not available in person, tutorials written by experts have always worked for me. Attention to detail and following instructions EXACTLY are the keys to creating an end-result to be proud of. In this instance, I started with Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving. Within the pages of this hefty, 448 page "how to," I found everything I needed to know to start my jelly making. I learned jelly-making is done using the water-bath method. What else? This book had all the answers.Equipment? I started with a "boiling-water canner." This can be any deep pot, with a lid and a rack. I purchased, Granite Ware 0707-1 Steel/Porcelain Water-Bath Canner with Rack, 21.5-Quart, Black, but the Ball book explained that any pot big enough to completely immerse the jars in water and is at least three inches deeper than the height of the jars elevated on a rack, (jars must be kept off of the bottom of the pot) will work. The jars must be covered with at least one inch of water and you'll want extra room for the water to come to a full-rolling boil. A specialized rack isn't absolutely necessary either, a cake cooling rack that fits inside the pot, or tying extra screw bands together to make a rack, will work. (Canning racks are also sold separately.) I didn't have a pot on hand to meet these specifications, so I bought the pot/rack combo above. The racks made for water canners have handles, which I think, are the way to go. I'm glad I made the investment because after making jelly, which was out-of-this-world good, I got the canning bug!As I read through the 400 recipes in this amazing book, I went on to make a few other yummy treats. I made strawberry jam, apple pie filling, spaghetti sauce, and salsa. Truly, making these items with the freshest ingredients resulted in the best tasting product we've ever tried. I would have made more recipes this year, but in the middle of all this industriousness, I had to pack up for moving across the country! Once I get settled...onward and upward.As a novice, I can't claim any wealth of knowledge or experience, but I can recommend this book to anyone who wants to get started in home preserving. In my quest, I bought a total of four home preserving books but I only needed this one. I feel that by using the information given in this book I've started out on the right track. I found everything I needed to know about equipment, how the process works (boy, am I grateful for everyone who figured all this out, way back when), and have lots of recipes to try in the future. By using Ball's instructions, I didn't feel overwhelmed, confused, or like perhaps I should re-think the whole home preserving decision.In future, I will make many more water-bath items (fruits/vegetables high in acidity~~don't worry this book explains all of that). Some things that I'm tantalized by are: fruit butters, preserves, conserves, marmalades, more jams and jellies, fruit in syrup (peaches, pears, and the like), apples in all kinds of ways, compotes, more pie fillings, fruit sauces, (think cranberry among others), juices, (which is where I started to make the grape jelly), fruit syrups, more salsa, relish, pickles, (it looks like you can pickle just about anything), condiments, (ketchups, BBQ sauces, chili sauces, mustards, vinegars, and the like), and tomatoes, (whole, chopped, and sauced). In total there are nearly 350 pages of water-bath recipes!I'm going to use this book, to branch into pressure canning. Ball outlines all of the equipment I'll need. In fact, I have a pressure canner, on my wish list right now! I especially want to make soups and stews. There are numerous recipes for vegetables, but for me, I'll probably stick to freezing those we primarily eat. However, I'm intrigued with the idea of canning potatoes and carrots. Meats, seafood, and poultry can also be preserved in a pressure canner.You'll see amazing color photographs of several of the recipes, charts for translating ingredients from pounds to cups, neat tips in the margins, (i.e. I added ¼ tsp. butter to my jelly mixture to reduce foaming), condition-cause-solution charts for each section, (i.e. what is the possible cause and suggested solution when soft spreads are tough or stiff), and a section on the "art and science of home food preservation" teaches everything I wanted to know about safely preserving. I thought the science was interesting while at the same time thankful that I didn't have to figure this stuff out. I'm originally from the Rocky Mountains of Idaho, and found the altitude charts helpful. Processing times vary based on altitude. I'm currently moving around and this is important info...thanks to Google, wherever I live, I can know the altitude! There's a glossary of terms in the back of this book along with an excellent index.Below is a list of the equipment I acquired for water-bath preserving, based on the recommendations within this book. By using the search engine, you'll see there are several to choose from. Some of the tools I purchased separately, are sold grouped together in kits. As I continue to home preserve, I'm sure I'll find more helpful tools to make it easier and therefore keep it enjoyable.Don't try filling your jars without these items or similar:Progressive International CKC-300 Regular and Wide Mouth Canning FunnelProgressive International CKC-500 Canning ScoopYou MUST HAVE a jar lifter! I use Norpro 600 Jar Lifter. Because the seal on the lid can be damaged, using metal tongs is a no-no using Norpro Magnetic Lid Wand or similar, is necessary.Good luck on your journey! I initially purchased this book for a friend of mine who was interested in getting into canning. I've been canning for years having learned from my great grandmother and grand mother when I was in my teens. I wanted a good book with plenty of info and instruction for whenever she cans on her own or tries something I haven't talked her through yet.When I got the book in the mail I took a moment to flip through it and make sure it was what my friend needed. It is absolutely perfect for a beginner and I saw some recipes I wanted to try as well! The instructions are very detailed with illustrations and the recipes have wonderful tips as well as descriptive instruction on how the end product should appear. It is very well organized and (now this is very important to me) has recipes which utilize enough of the ingredients to make more than one product to reduce waste.I gave it to my friend and she picked out a recipe she wanted to try and we began the journey of making it together. Everything so far has turned out wonderful! The detailed instruction and illustrations are easy enough to follow that she has just jumped right into making things all on her own. She loves the book and its recipes!I will also be purchasing another one to have for myself. I recommend this book for beginners and experienced canners. It has everything from easy freezer jams to pressure canner recipes for wild game.

I'm so glad I spent the extra money to get the spiral version.After reading several reviews, I made my decision.This is a wonderful reference for anyone who cans.Love that it contained a recipe for Tomato Preserves too.When I was a child, my grandmother canned tomato preserves and they were wonderful on toast.Although we have fruit trees in our yard, the birds and squirrels steal and damage all of the fruit long before it's ready to harvest, but I usually have plenty of tomatoes.I'm not likely to try all of the recipes contained in this book, but it'll remain on my bookshelf as a reference book and will be used often.The spiral version is a hard cover, binder type book that allows the pages to lie flat and open.

This book does have a lot of recipes, some I have never seen before. I am a seasoned canner and was looking for something different. This book does focus on the "standard" items: fruits, relish, salsa, condiments, pickles & tomatoes. A huge bonus, there were several recipes for No-Sugar-Added fruit spreads. I have diabetic family members so I love that I can make a spread for toast and muffins with only the sugars naturally occurring in the fruit and I do not have to add additional processed sugar.The best news -- the book does contain one chapter on low-acid foods (Pressure Canning). This section has recipes for 18 different veggies, fish, clams, beef, lamb, pork, venison, chicken, duck, goose, turkey, game birds, soups, stews, chili and sauces. Overall, this chapter is very basic in the recipes - canning asparagus is ONLY asparagus, no additional spices or herbs needed.I have other BALL canning books - this one is my new favorite! This one is a much better buy.

I wanted to do a less processed diet of grilled/smoked meat and fruits/veges. This book spends the first 1/4 discussing how cures/brines/marinades, etc work and tips. Surprisingly fun read. Next to each recipe he lists the meat that is best for it, such as pork, vs chicken, beef or fish. I made BBQ pork marinade and smoked it and made homemade BBQ sauce, my husband loved both. He also tells you if the marinade freezes with the meat well, so I have a second pork with marinade in the freezer. (Pork from warehouse clubs are so large, but great bargains.) Recipes are easy with basic ingredients and timing. I just wish it told me if I should cure/brine the meat before hand or smoke/bake. So not for the true beginner.

This is probably one of my favorite recipe books! I start drooling just reading it! Jim doesn't just provide great recipes either. The author goes into the history of cures and brines and gives descriptions of ethnic ingredients. There are so many ingredients I had never even heard of and I can't wait to dive in and try everything. If you love trying recipes using ingredients from around the world that you don't normal hear about this book is for you! Recipes are divided by their country of origin. Highly recommended!This book arrived in a timely manner and was in perfect condition!

I originally bought this book way back when it was first published and I loved it. But the old paperback binding was falling apart, getting hard to keep pages from flying out while I was trying to read it. I bought this one as a replacement and I'm glad I did. GREAT recipes, clear instructions. The Asian style marinades alone are worth the price. If you are a home chef who wants to see what it's like to create flavors with real ingredients instead of just dumping on some bland, factory made bottled stuff full of chemicals you can't pronounce, this is your book.

This book has tons of recipes. My boyfriend used one of the rubs for jerkey it was delicious looking forward to using more recipes out of this book! This book was also used it was in excellent condition just some discoloration of the pages which is to be expected in my opinion. I would order again used considering the great condition it was in.

In my pilgrimage from menu designer to food photographer to gourmet cook (not there yet), I recently found myself in audience with a restaurateur in Bay St. Louis, Miss., who is passionate about marinades, and I realized my ignorance on the subject. I have been buying bottled marinades, following the directions on the bottle, and cooking easy meals.So I ordered Tarantino's book. I now see my ignorance is vaster than previously suspected. This book won't fix it all, but it is an essential text.Read the early "Tools & Techniques" chapter before tackling any of the hundreds of recipes. I didn't, and paid a salty-tasting price for impatiently putting pork in brine at 55 degrees rather than the recommended 40 degrees. The author points out that it takes as long for the brine to cool as it does to prepare, and explains the reason for the recommended temperature. Plan your timeline. You may need to start preparations Friday night for a Saturday supper.The recipes are grouped into six sections:Basic Recipes & Ingredient ThemesThe American South & SouthwestLatin America & the CaribbeanThe MediterraneanEastern Mediterranean, the Middle East, & North AfricaAsiaTarantino introduces each section with a "Pantry" list of ingredients it is hand to have on hand, and a "Special Ingredients" glossary, describing some items with such details as source, preparation, use, taste and storage.There is a good bibliography and index.Here's something I didn't find:After I soaked the pork loin in "Basic Brine for Pork and Poultry" for six to eight hours, how do I cook it?The recipes get you through the cold prep part of the process, but then you're on your own.This is an inexpensively produced book with no photos or illustrations, but plenty of room to write notes in the margins. I uploaded a photo I made of Smoked Salmon with Tangerine-Pink Peppercorn Marinade. There were strong flavors--quite tasty.

Despite Namine on the cover of this one, this is the issue many things start to happen that will eventually determine the fate of our cast in 358/2 days. Xion discovers for herself who and what she really is, and Riku seeks out Roxas for a lottle "heart" to "heart" you'll see how much the manga really goes into detail with these characters.

I Always like seeing neverland and the people. Not to mention of Roxas and Axel helping out. Xion having a identity crisis not knowing what and who she is. Plus seeing the whole organization XIII being them is just funny.

I haven't read this volume yet but it does look interesting.The artwork is quite amazing. I love the KH series and I hope that the artist keeps making them.

i love how one of my favorite game series is put in manga form, bring on birth by sleep and recoded in this form
